Are you ready for a third Mandalorian series on your TV screen? Because it looks like it could be coming.
Hot on the heels of The Mandalorian and the currently airing Book of Boba Fett, the chaps at That Hashtag Show, who have a cracking track record when it comes to Star Wars leaks, are reporting that Bo-Katan is set to get her own spin-off show.
The character, who first debuted in The Clone Wars and recently made a comeback in The Mandalorian, is played by the always great Katee Sackhoff, with Katan being a Mandalorian who walks a fine line between hero and villain and who believes she has a claim to be the ruler of Mandalore. Given her arc in The Mandalorian Season 2, a standalone series could certainly make sense and could see Bo-Katan returning to a battle-ravaged Mandaore to rally the people and claim her title.
The report has little, well nothing, in the way of plot, but does claim that the character was meant to originally have a big role in the Gina Carano-led but now canceled Rangers of the New Republic series. It’s not impossible that this series could be focused on the plot points originally set to be part of Rangers. Word is that the series will take place after season 3 of The Mandalorian
If all this is true, and we believe it likely is, then we’d expect to hear about the series officially soon but not to see it until 2023/24 at this stage.
Personally, I love Sackhoff and think Bo-Katan is a character with a lot of layers and a lot of story to tell, so I will be looking forward to this. As for the worry of a third series featuring a Mandalorian lead, by that stage we’ll have several Star Wars shows airing on Disney+ so it’s unlikely to be an issue for fans… and, in fairness, Mandalore is a corner of the Star Wars galaxy I love spending time in.
Thoughts?
UPDATE: Looks like the news has been [accidentally] confirmed as The Book of Boba Fett star Ming Na-Wen tweeted, and then quickly deleted: “Woohoo!!! Thrilled for you Katee Sackhoff!!! Congrats, girl! #BoKatan #starwars @disneyplus”
Look like we should be getting excited for more Bo-Katan in the near future.
