Get ready for the new daily show

Disney+ working on an Alita: Battle Angel prequel series?

One of the most passionate fandoms out there – and one which I proudly call myself part of – is the Alita: Battle Angel one.

And ever since the 2019 release of the movie, the fandom has been crying out for a sequel (the movie does open the door for one, after all) and when 20th Century Fox was bought out by Disney some thought this meant there was no chance, while others thought it was a more likely we would get one…

But it never came.

But now we do have some news that more Alita may be coming albeit not what we hoped.

“Disney is in the process of developing an Alita: Battle Angel prequel show,” goes the new rumour, “This will be for Disney Plus. At the moment, it’s unclear if Robert Rodriguez and/or James Cameron will be coming back.”

It’s known that as well as the fans, director Robert Rodriquez and producer/writer James Cameron are both hoping to continue the story in one form or another.

The movie was based on Japanese manga artist Yukito Kishiro’s Battle Angel Alita and we do know that recently producer Jan Landau spoke about Disney+ content: “Well, I won’t speak specifically about Alita. I would just tell you that I think Jim [Cameron] and I love the opportunities that streaming and these other avenues of distribution are offering people today. And you know, we would love to get into those playgrounds and play in them, no matter what the title is.”

While there’s nothing concrete yet, in a world where we’re looking forward to getting Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max, anything can happen…

What say you all? Would you like an Alita prequel series? Let me know…
