While this will not really be a surprise to anyone as we’ve all been hoping for a while now that Ewan McGregore would return as Obi-Wan Kenobi at some point in the future.
However, pre-Solo: A Star Wars Story, we had hoped we’d get a movie but after that movie failed and the future of Star Wars standalone movies seemed unlikely our hopes and dreams turned to the upcoming Disney+ streaming service for the potential future of my favourite Jedi.
And now a new new rumour seems to duggest that yes, McGregor IS set to return as Obi-Wan for a limited run TV series on Disney+.
“An industry insider recently revealed to We Got This Covered that Disney is not only planning to bring Obi-Wan to their streaming service, in a brand new series, but it’ll also see the return of McGregor to the franchise. Details are scarce right now, but it seems the House of Mouse is planning to make an official announcement in the near future.”
The ‘insider’ also seems to imply that a Boba Fett series is also in the works – remember that Boba Fett came very close to getting his own movie a few years back – so it seems that Disney are now looking toard the small screen as much, if not more, than the big screen to keep Star Wars alive and relevant.
Now that is exciting news… if I hear more, you’ll hear more too.
Thoughts?
