The first bit of casting news for FX’s upcoming Marvel Mutant show Legion drops courtesy of iEarths.

The blog has reported that Fargo actress Rachel Keller has been cast as the female lead in the show, which makes sense since Fargo creator Noah Hawley will act as showrunner for Legion.

It’s being reported that Keller will play a scrappy, optimistic 20 something, who may or may not have mutant powers of her own.

Legion will take on X-Men character David Haller, the mentally unstable son of Charles Xavier, who bounced from one mental institution to another looking to rid himself of the voices in his head, until a chance encounter with another patient convinces him that the voices may be real.

Sounds kind of like the backstory for a very young Charles Xavier. It will be interesting to see how the show is pulled off as the comic of the same name was not very…um…good.

Nonetheless Haller himself is an interesting character so as an X-fan I’ll definitely be tuning in.
