Stranger Things creators, the Duffer brothers’ new project at Netflix is set to arrive in March and the first details and look is here.
The series will be executive produced by the brothers but was created and showrun by Haley Z Boston and tells the story of Rachel and Nicky and the bad, possibly supernatural, things that occur on the week leading up to their wedding – movies such as Rosemary’s Baby and Carrie are bandied around when talking about the plot.
“I love horror, it’s natural to me,” says Boston, “[it’s how] I process my own emotions and feelings and my own understanding of the world. I think horror allows you to explore taboo feelings and take all of these fears and give them some bite.”
she goes on: “I love to explore characters. I think sometimes that’s lacking in the horror genre. My natural approach is from a place of character and dialogue and humor and then infusing that with unsettling horror. I’m like, ‘I want to be unsettled. I want to be freaked out.’ ”
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen stars Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco and hits screens on March 26th.
The brothers are also executive producing a new supernatural series for Netflix called The Boroughs, written and created by The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’s Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews.
That series has a fantastic line-up with Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, and Bill Pullman all stepping up for the series which Netflix describes as: A supernatural mystery series from The Duffer Brothers, Jeffrey Addiss, and Will Matthews. In a retirement community, a group of unlikely heroes band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don’t have: time.

On The Boroughs, the Duffers said: “While the heroes in The Boroughs have a few more years on them than the kids from Stranger Things, they are a similarly lovable bunch of misfits, and we can’t wait for you to join them on an adventure that is at turns scary, funny, and deeply touching.”
So, love or hate how Stranger Things wrapped up, it seems the Duffers will be around for quite a while to come.
