FIRST LOOK: Here’s Michael Chiklis as Gotham villain The Executioner…

With the news a few days ago that Gotham had been renewed for another season – that’s four if you’re counting – fans sighed in relief.

And now today we get our first look at Captain Nathaniel Barnes, Michael Chiklis, as the villainous The Executioner.

You may recall that when Chiklis came into the show the official synopsis listed him as a villain and yet we’ve only seen him so far as a friend to James Gordon on the show – a father figure sometimes too.

And now, thanks to to the Alice Tetch Virus, Barnes has become a bad guy. And he looks, well, a bit silly.

The images (below) show him as a cross between something out of Kick-Ass and Mad Max – executive Producer John Stephens said of the character: “His desire for justice overwhelmed his ethical code, and transformed into the Executioner, summarily hunting down, trying and executing criminals whom he deems guilty.”

Let us know what you all think.

Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/the future Riddler, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan, Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox, Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean, Maggie Geha as the future Poison Ivy, Michael Chiklis as Detective Nathaniel Barnes, and Benedict Samuel as Mad Hatter.
