Well, this isn’t the Scream that you know…

While MTV have been holding off on showing the new mask, we finally get to see it today, with the premiere only a few short weeks away.

And whatever that is, it’s not Scream… yet.

Exec producer Jaime Paglia said: “The [original] mask is so iconic. If you were to have that mask in a television series, but you weren’t following any of the characters [from the original], I believe that would be misleading the audience.”

Exec producer Jill Blotevogel added: “It evokes some of the Jason hockey mask and the white Michael Myers mask, but it’s still first and foremost evocative of the Scream mask. It’s sort of a reinvention while also paying homage.”

Wes Craven, creator and director of the iconic movie series, is a producer and said of the mask: “The new mask is cool and scary and takes the series into a new direction.  It also ties into the story, which I won’t give away.”

What is you guys think? We really want this to be good… but the proof of the pudding will be in the eating

In the “Scream” TV Series, everyone has secrets. Everyone tells lies. Everyone is fair game. What starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewoodand serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town’s troubled past.

“Scream” stars Bex Taylor-Klaus, Willa Fitzgerald, John Karna, Connor Weil and Amadeus Serafini.

The new series will premiere on June 30.
