Get ready for the new daily show

First Smallville, then Krypton, now we’re getting a Metropolis TV series…

Ok, so a few years back we saw the end of Smallville, the Superman origins show; this year we’re getting Krypton, the origins story of Superman’s family and now… we’re getting another series called, wait for it, what other location would you associate with Superman? That’s right… Metropolis.

And once again, it looks like it’s going to be a Superman series without Superman.

Yes, DC have just announced that the new series will air exclusively on their upcoming digital service and will focus primarily on Lois Lane and Lex Luthor before the Man Of Steel ever made it to The City Of Tomorrow.

So, will it basically be like FOX TV’s Gotham is to Batman? Well, yes. And no.

“While the basic setup may be similar, fans know that there’s a world of difference between the cities of Metropolis and Gotham, suggesting that Metropolis will likely have a considerably different tone than Gotham. Superman’s villains are also more powerful, cosmic and rooted in science fiction than Batman’s, so one can only imagine there will be much less emphasis on street level gangsters and crime families in this forward-thinking city.

“Metropolis is being overseen by Gotham executive producers John Stephens and Danny Cannon. Both will executive produce this series, and Cannon will also direct the first episode, from a teleplay by Stephens, with story by Cannon and Stephens.”

The new series will be appearing on screens in 2019 and has already been given a direct to series order with 13 episodes in season 1.

That’s all we have for now, but we look forward to seeing whole will be playing Lex and Lois… and we’re wondering, if it’s the same studio, will this be the same universe as the Teen Titans series?

Watch this space…
