Game of Thrones actress confirms 2019 release for final season

December 7th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Uh-oh Game of Thrones fans, it’s going to be a loooooong wait for Season 8…

While we were pretty sure we wouldn’t see the end of the story in 2018, it has pretty much been confirmed by X-Men star Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa in GoT, that the show won’t be returning until 2019.

Aghhhhhhhhh!

Speaking to Variety, the actress said: “We started in October, so we’re maybe like a tenth of the way through. [Laughs.] No, no, we’ve got six or seven months left.”

Dammit!

It is still looking likely that the returning series will feature six feature length episodes. Six Game of Thrones movies on TV weekly? That works for us.

What about you?

Returning series regulars will include Emmy and Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Sophie Turner(Sansa Stark) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth),  Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont), Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark),  Rory McCann (Sandor “The Hound” Clegane) and Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrion).

The executive producers of Game of Thrones are David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield; co-executive producers are Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis, George R.R. Martin and Bryan Cogman; and producers are Chris Newman, Greg Spence and Lisa McAtackney.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
