With all of the attention that has been given to Jon Snow over the past several weeks, it seems that everyone has forgotten that there were other things that happened in the Game of Thrones Series Finale. For example, did everyone just forget that Stannis was killed?

In fairness, that is not entirely fair. There has been a good deal of speculation as to whether Brienne actually killed him or not. It is just that, compared to the theories that have been built around Snow, the speculation around Stannis seems positively miniscule.

However, in an interview with EW at Comic-Con, David Nutter, the director of the Series 6 finale, put the speculation regarding Stannis to rest. In the interview, he stated, “From the very beginning, and [through] the script process, that was the intent — he’s dead”.

Personally, I am not overly surprised at this news. A friend of mine pointed out to me that the Game of Thrones team does seem to enjoy killing a King each season. Think about it, Robert, then Renly, followed by Robb, Joffrey and now Stannis. So with this piece of news, we can finally put the Stannis speculation to rest. Now we can all focus on the Jon Snow speculation.
