With the return of The X-Files and The Evil Dead to the small screen, we sort of guessed that the floodgates may have opened… and now it looks like it might have happened.

It seems that NBC are now looking into returning Xena: Warrior Princess to our screens with the help of original creators and executive producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert.

It’s unknown if Lucy Lawless will return in some capacity or other, although it is clear that a new actress is being sought for the lead role.

Lawless only last week told Hitfix that she’d love to see Xena return to TV screens.

I’ll not lie, Xena and its companion show Hercules passed me by, but I do know they had a massive fan base among my friends… so now the big question: Who else could play Xena in the new series?

Let us know…

UPDATE: Yeah…about that revival…um…Xena herself, Lucy Lawless took to Twitter and posted the following statement:

“Sorry, friends! news of a #Xena reboot is just a rumor. I’d love it to happen one day but it’s still in the wishful thinking stage.”

So yeah, temper your expectations a bit, cause it may not be what we were told.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
