Doctor Who and Sherlock showrunner Steven Moffat has made his intentions clear when it comes to his role in the future of the two shows.
Speaking to Assignment X, Moffat said that Doctor Who is great but it means other work is hard to fit in: “Eventually, I’ll stop doing Doctor Who because it stops me doing anything else.
“But Sherlock doesn’t swamp my schedule. I could imagine we’ll come back and do Sherlock fairly often for many years, rather than very often for a few years.”
Perhaps Sherlock is also closer to his heart because he was a big part in getting it made? Either way, while Doctor Who thrives on new blood, Sherlock seems better suited to Moffat’s particular skill set.
Or maybe that’s just me.
Doctor Who will be on our sets on Christmas Day while Sherlock is rumoured to return next year…
It is believed fans will now have to wait until 2015 for the next episode of the detective drama starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, with Moffat previously saying that discussions were ongoing about filming dates.
