Images from set of Peacemaker show off Green Lantern link

We all know that James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is set for release in cinemas and on HBO Max later this year, but the writer director is currently hard at work on its spin-off series, Peacemaker.

Based on the character played by John Cena in the movie, the series is, according to Gunn himself, set to include new names and faces from the wider DC universe.

A twitter user managed to get on the HBO Max series’ set – it’s currently filming in Canada –  and get some photographs (here) but one of the most interesting was the one below.

No, not of Cena, but of the police car which has two nice nods to the wider DC universe.

First up, Carlton County is likely a nod to Carlton Comics, the publisher who owned Peacemaker before he joined the DC ranks. As well as this, Evergreen Police is a nod to Evergreen City which is a big part of Hal Jordan’s story in the comics… Hal is, of course, Green Lantern.

These are very cool little nods, the likes of which I will never not be a sucker for.

On top of this, Gunn has shared a new image of his monitor from the set of the series:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
