Get ready for the new daily show

K2-SO will NOT be in Andor season one says Alan Tudyk… but he will appear down the line

A bit of bad news today for Star Wars fans but with a bit of light at the end…

So, we’re really looking forward to the Star Wars Cassian Andor series starring Diego Luna as the character we met in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story because it promises a darker corner of the universe with spies and intrigue aplenty in a darker tale than we usually get in Star Wars.

But one of the things we were looking forward to was the return of Alan Tudyk as his droid and co-pilot K2-SO as the duo’s relationship was a highlight of the movie that spawned this spinoff.

But sadly, we’ll have to wait to see that relationship bloom in season 2, it seems.

In a new interview, the actor said: “They’re shooting it right now, I’m not in it.

“But,” he adds, “if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I’ll end up in there.

“I’m going to be in the show. It’s just that the story that Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn’t involve K-2SO until later on… I can’t be too specific, but I can definitely say that I’m not going to be in the first season.”

However, Tudyk (below) is a little concerned about playing the character much late in life as it’s a tough gig and he’s not getting any younger: “I do know this: I have to be on stilts for it, because the character is 7’1″, and I’m not one of those guys that says, ‘somebody else do the motion capture, and I’ll voice it later,'” Tudyk said.

“I’ll have to do the motion capture, and I turn 50 in March. So I hope they get to it soon, because I’m not going to be on stilts in, like, five years. I’m not doing it!”

I’m disappointed that we won’t be seeing this duo on screen when season one hits but I anticipate the series will be a hit and we’ll see them both together again in 2023.

What say you all? Are you excited for the Andor series? Let me know…

Star Wars: Andor will premiere on Disney+ in 2022.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife.
