We reported a while ago that Kevin Smith was planning on bringing a new TV series to the world based on the 1980s cult movie The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension.

And now it looks like it’s going to happen over at Amazon.

Deadline are reporting: “The streaming service are close to locking a deal that will see the Mallrats director bring the 1984 sci-fi adventure comedy to the small screens sometime in the next year.”

They point out that there’s no episode commitment at the minute but rather it’s at the development phase, so it’s still up in the air.

“Smith has already said he’d like to see original star Peter Weller and cast members John Lithgow, Christopher Lloyd, and Jeff Goldblum show up in the TV adaptation”. Wouldn’t we all?

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more…

Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
