Well, the corpse of another 80s classic is being desecrated, sorry, re-imagined by Apple.
I know, you’re shocked.
Time Bandits, an absolute classic 80s trip through history thanks to Terry Gilliam which is part nightmare, part drug-fuelled trip, part Hollywood who’s who, is being developed as a ten-part series and has added a Friends star as it’s lead.
Lisa Kudrow, who played Pheobe in the iconic 90s series, will join Kal-El Tuck, Charlyne Yi, Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Rune Temte, Kiera Thompson and Rachel House which is co-written and directed by Taika Waititi, the man behind Thor: Love & Thunder.
That’s unfair, he also made What We Do In the Shadows and Jojo Rabbit. But, man, that new Thor is… something.
The synopsis of the series seems to be pretty close to the original movie: A comedic journey through time and space with a ragtag group of thieves and their newest recruit: an eleven-year-old history nerd.
The original movie starred Sean Connery, John Cleese, Shelley Duvall, Ralph Richardson, Katherine Helmond, Ian Holm, Michael Palin, Peter Vaughan and David Warner as historic figures and, well, an evil genius, so far the series seems lacking in the star power area. I reckon it’ll lack is other areas too.
But I hope I’m wrong. And no, nothing is sacred…
