Looks like Doctor Who stars Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole are departing after the Christmas special

It looks like the team inside the TARDIS will be facing a shake-up after this year’s big Christmas Special.

After the disappointing season finale on Sunday night, Doctor Who left fans on an cliffhanger which sets up the festive episode which will arrived either on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day 2021 called:

Oooooooooh…

On the episode, showrunner Chris Chibnall said: “The Doctor and her friends will be back for a one-off extended Special around Christmas and New Year. (I don’t know when they’re going to put it on yet, otherwise we’d tell you!). There will be Daleks. There will be exterminations. Thrills, laughter, tears. You know. The usual. See you at the end of the year.”

But it seems that whatever damage the Daleks do over Christmas, there will be a lasting effect on the TARDIS as stars Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole, AKA Graham and Ryan, will be departing the series leaving Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor with only Yaz, Mandip Gill, for 2021’s series 13.

However, word is that it won’t be a closed door with the possibility there for both actors to return from time-to-time – this is by no means new territory for Doctor Who with several companions coming and going and returning over the years .

While few details are known, it was speculated for sometime with Cole having somehow nabbed the lead role in US series 61st Street.

As for Walsh, the star has made little secret of how difficult it was making the series along with his two current shows on UK TV and the fact that he’s almost hitting the big 60.

In all honesty, Graham was the only companion – and often actor – who made the last two series watchable, so his departure could be further damage to the series which seems to be on its last legs already, given the plummeting viewing figures, but who (Who?) knows? This is a series known for pulling itself back up to previous heights in the past… can it do it again? I guess we’ll find out soon enough…

I want to hear your thoughts.
