Of all the Star Wars TV shows, Star Wars: Clone Wars, which ran for seven seasons, spanning over 130 episodes, is still the best and still recognised as the one that gave us the real hero many believed Anakin Skywalker should have been in the live-action movies, but sadly never got the chance to play.
The series spans the years between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith and tells the story of, well, the Clone Wars, fleshing out what led to Anakin becoming Darth Vader, something we first had teased in A New Hope in 1977 and while the series featured many familiar faces, it seems it almost featured one of the most famous of all…
Yes, everyone’s favourite smuggler, Han Solo, was almost included in the series and, as if that’s not enough, Sam Witwer, left, almost voiced him!

Witwer, a massive Star Wars nerd and a big part of that universe now, having voiced, among others, Starkiller/Galen Merrick in the Force Unleashed games and Darth Maul in various Star Wars projects including Clone Wars, almost voiced the young Solo: “There was a moment on Clone Wars where George Lucas was thinking about bringing on a young Han Solo,” Witwer said at a panel at Dragon Con 2025.
“I know that Dave [Filoni] auditioned a whole bunch of actors, and I was one of the actors they auditioned. I know that George knows that when I want to, I can do a serviceable Harrison Ford, or I can do an old grumpy Harrison.”

In the end, it never came to be, but it’s fun to know that Han was around during the animated adventures, although he’d have to have been a young boy… I wonder how many of Lucas’ ideas went into Solo: A Star Wars Story in the end?
Anyway, would you have liked to see a young Han or does it just make the universe feel even smaller? Let me know your thoughts, Nerds and Nerdettes…
