Mads Mikkelsen’s Hannibal set for a return on Netflix?

Well, we’ve been here before, you and I.

Yes, there’s new talk of the amazing Hannibal series getting picked up again. Again.

Last time we reported on the Bryan Fuller thriller based on the books of Thomas Harris about genius cannibal Hannibal Lecter which starred Mads Mikkelsen in the title role along with Hugh Darcy as Will Graham, was 2020 (here) when Fuller said he was “very hopeful” the show might get picked up again, picking up from the end of season 3 when the series ended on a cliffhanger. Literally.

“The great thing about the fact that if we are going to be meeting them and it takes five, six, seven years until we’re meeting them, that’ll just be how long they’ve been on the lam,” Fuller said then, referencing the fact that, in the story, there is a period of a few years since Hannibal was last seen and with the show ending in 2015, in real-time and in-universe, time has passed and opens the story up again.

Many have speculated, including ourselves, that this was always the plan with this series.

We know the whole cast are all keen to return (here) with everyone involved wanting to return to that world and the fans – fannibals, don’t you know – are too,

In the years in between, the series was made by NBC but the rights passed to Amazon Prime, while Netflix has previously expressed interest in picking the story up and word is that Netflix are once again interested.

Now, there’s no more details to share at this stage but if Netflix are back at the table then there must be developments with the show’s rights meaning Netflix want to put everyone’s favorite cannibal on screens again.

Sadly, that’s all we have on this new and exciting rumour but we know that we’d love to see this show back and have been praying for it for almost seven years now.

Are we alone? Let us know, Fannibals.
