Get ready for the new daily show

Mandalorian star teases at least two more seasons of Star Wars hijinks

It looks like The Mandalorian could be around for several years to come if one of the show’s stars has anything to say about it.

In a new interview with Moff Gideon himself, Giancarlo Esposito, the star revealed that the upcoming season 2 – which kicks off on October 30th on Disney+ – will be laying the groundwork for a lot of story still to come.

“We’re living in a universe that is huge and there’s so much to explore, so I think this show is going to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that’s gonna come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers,” he said.

Given how at the end of season 1 of the series the Mandalorian really only began his quest to get the child (Baby Yoda) to his (?) people and it also introduced Gideon to the mix, who owns the Darksaber, a big part of Star Wars lore, not to mention there’s still so much to learn about the Madalorian culture and the main character’s past and what exactly happened during the siege of Mandalore, then this is not unexpected news, but certainly is still welcome.

Are you excited for the return of the series? Do you hope it becomes an October tradition for years to come? Let me know your thoughts, guys.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
