We reported that Jon Bernthal has started filming Netflix’s Punisher series already (here) and now we know two things…

Firstly The Punisher series will land on Netflix in 2017 sometime (yay!) and secondly there cast has grown and a character we’ve been waiting on has been cast.

Ben Barnes has been confirmed cast as Billy Russo (we reported this last month) who Punisher fans will know also becomes his arch-nemisis, Jigsaw. Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Microchip (yay!), and Amber Rose Revah will play Dinah Madani.

Showrunner Steve Lightfoot said of the cast: “I look forward to [seeing them] embody these characters and breathe vivid life into the story we are crafting for this season of Marvel’s The Punisher.”

So, who are these characters? Well:

“Barnes’ Billy Russo is described as Frank Castle’s best friend from his time in the armed forces. Now out of the service, he runs a private military corporation dubbed Anvil.

“Girls’ actress Moss-Bachrach plays Punisher’s long-time comic book sidekick Microchip, whom Marvel describes as “a former NSA analyst whose secrets may be of great value to Frank Castle and everyone around them.”

“Dinah Madani (played by Amber Rose Revah) is a Homeland Security agent who is “vexed” by Castle.”

On top of that Daredevil Deborah Ann Woll has done a Roasario Dawson and is crossing series:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
