Supergirl is quickly flying (see what I did there?) through production, on its way to CBS this fall. As it continues to develop, we keep getting more details on the show.

Today, we’ve gotten some interesting tidbits about Kara’s costume. First off, it’s going to be made by her neighbor, Wynn Scott, who just so happens to have a crush on her. Also interesting is that she will wear a full-on cape. Certain versions of the character don’t have this, such as the Superman TAS and Justice League cartoons. No indication yet whether the outfit is white or blue.

More interestingly, Laura Benanti has been cast as Supergirl’s mother, Alura Zor-El. And much like a certain OTHER Kryptonian, Alura will be the guide to Kara along her journey.

It’s interesting noting the many similarities between Supergirl and Superman they’re having in the show. Hopefully this doesn’t turn into a female-led Smallville.
