Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has announced that next year’s series of Doctor Who will air as one continuous run.
Fans were becoming increasingly irritated and frustrated by the half a series run of episodes over the least few years – Series 6 was split between the spring and autumn of 2011, while Series 7 was split between 2012 and 2013.
Speaking at the BFI’s Eleventh Doctor celebration event in London, Moffat confirmed explicitly: “There’ll be no split.”
The writer revealed: “I’ve got the whole [of Series 8] in my head right now.” Which is great news, as fans were ready for throwing their sonic screwdrivers at the screen should the new series be split over 2014 and 2015.
Series 8 begins filming later this month and is expected to start airing on BBC One next August, while Matt Smiths final episode, The Time of The Doctor, is set to air on Christmas Day.
