Plot details and first image from Futurama and The Simpsons Crossover episode

It’s sort of difficult to feel excited about this anymore given how the Simpsons has fallen from grace… but we know that Futurama stayed strong until the end, so we’re not giving ALL hope up.

The episode, which airs in the US on November 9th, according to InsideTV, was something of a tough call for creator of both shows Matt Groening: “That was a really tough one to negotiate, because I had to talk to myself.”

The episode, titled Simpsorama is taglined as “a show out of ideas teams up with a show out of episodes” .

“They [Futurama] were going off the air, so I thought people would really love it if we had one more chance to see those characters,” says Simpsons exec producer Al Jean.

“The crossover will unspool a complex, Terminator-esque story that involves Bart blowing his nose on a sandwich that he places in a time capsule. When that mixes with Milhouse’s rabbit’s foot and some radioactive ooze, it creates a global catastrophe in the future, prompting Bender to travel back in time to kill Bart and prevent this mega-mess. And as you’d imagine, “Simpsorama” teems with Futurama inside jokes and a Simpsonized tweak of its title sequence. Adds Jean: “There’s a thing in Futurama code where if you solve it, it says, ‘Congratulations! You’re a nerd.’”

We’re never sorry to see more of the Futurama gang and we always hope for that glimmer of Simpsons genius that used to pour out of the show, so we will watch with drawn breath…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
