Well, no-one saw this coming.
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has signed on to The CW’s Batwoman series.
As Versper Fairchild, a TV/Radio star and former love-interest of none other than Bruce Wayne – although in the Arrowverse, we know she’s had a fling with Arrow himself, Oliver Queen, played by Stephen Amell.
Now Maddow, who is gay in real-life, previously wrote an introduction for the 2010 deluxe hardcover edition of writer Greg Rucka’s Batwoman graphic novel Elegy; Batwoman herself is an openly gay character.
Now, the plan is that Maddow will only ever be Fairchild on the radio and will be heard in the show reporting news, but will not appear in person.
“We consider Vesper Fairchild to be the sardonic Voice of Gotham,” said showrunner Caroline Dries.
“In addition to Rachel’s interest in Batwoman, we thought she’d be the perfect casting choice because her own hard-hitting journalism wildly contrasts Vesper’s penchant for snark, gossip and criticism of female superheroes.”
I know no one’s going to believe this is true, but it’s true.
I’m “Vesper Fairchild” in the new Batwoman TV show that starts this Sunday night on The CW.
(My character is soooo not me; turns out playing her is one of the most fun things I’ve ever done).https://t.co/LP8PauXvUL
