It looks like the Resident Evil story is heading to the small screen – actually, is there any such thing as small screen anymore? anyway, I digress.
The series will be developed by Netflix and German company Constantin Film who were responsible for the movie franchise.
The series is currently looking a showrunner and will, obviously, continue the story of the Capcom video game series wherein a virus is turning people into zombies and a war between good and evil begins for the fate of humanity.
“The plan is for the series to expand the Resident Evil universe and deepen the exiting mythology. I hear the series will keep the basic premise, which also served as a setup for the movie franchise. The drama series will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus. While the project is in early stages, the series is expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and “easter eggs”.”
So it looks like the series may tie into the movie series which is currently being developed by Johannes Roberts who is tipped to write and direct.
This could be a great way to develop the story, with the Netflix show telling how it all began and the movies telling what happened after the outbreak.
Anyway, would you watch a Resident Evil series? Let us know…
