No, look, I have made no secret of my dislike of 2020’s DC’s Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn) BUT, much like my dislike of the latest incarnation of Doctor Who, I have many problems but the cast isn’t one of them.
I knew going in that Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn was a winning commodity but honestly, it was Jurnee Smollet’s Black Canary/Dinah Lance and Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress/Helena Bertinelli that I came away wanting to spend more time with… they were the best thing about the movie and were much better than the movie deserved.
In fact, we recently learned that the character was given a fun nod in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (here).
And, we all know that there have been calls for a Black Canary spin-off and now, if the rumours are to be believed, it’s in development at HBO Max.
And that’s all we have.
We know that HBO Max is developing a Constantine series, a Zatanna series, a Batgirl movie, a Blue Beetle movie, GCPD series and more, so we shouldn’t be that surprised that this series is in development crosshairs at the streaming service.
What say you? Would you like to see a Black Canary series? Would you like to see it explore her relationship with Oliver Queen AKA Green Arrow?
