She’s coming back guys, and it may be pretty soon!
Sarah Michelle Gellar has teased the Pilot script for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot (below) – called, it seems Book of Shadows – and has talked a bit about the new series too.
Gellar played Buffy between 1997 and 2003 and will return for the new series in the pilot directed by Chloé Zhao and written by Poker Face’s Nora and Lilla Zuckerman.
Gellar talks about what the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer show will be
“We’re getting really close. We have to make sure everything is done right. But I will say we are filming very soon,” the actress says.
While she won’t reveal details about the series and plot, she has once again teased that she wants the show to be a proper love-letter to the original and, as such, it could feature and or all of the original cast but is also keen to establish a new series with new lore and chracters: “I will do my best to honour the original show while also giving a chance to the new characters,” she says.
TIDBIT:
The new series is rumoured to be called Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunningdale.
“I tell everyone to be patient because if we bring back all of the new characters right away, then the audience doesn’t have time to like and get to the know the new characters. They won’t give them the time of day. So I want to make sure I do spend the right amount of time establishing the new characters.”

While I am very nervous to have yet another beloved part of my youth return, given how recklessly and carelessly so many others have been treated in recent years, I would be lying if I said that the return of Buffy Summers doesn’t make me a little giddy.
Whatever happens, once filming begins, expect a lot of reveals, images and footage and we will be here for it all.
Into every generation, a new Slayer is born.
