We reported a while ago that Ghost Rider was not coming to Agents of SHIELD (here). Then we had to swallow our pride and admit that he may actually be (here).

Although it would be a different type of Rider than most people were aware of.

As we wrote at the time:

Now, if like most of us, you’re only familiar with Ghost Rider being Johnny Blaze, then this may mean nothing to you. But, to the more comic book inclined, this seems to be hinting at Robbie and Gabe Reyes from the 2014 Marvel NOW! Ghost Rider series by Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore.

In this series Ghost Rider was Gabe who owned the Hell-Charger, a hellfire imbued 1969 Dodge Charger and who becomes the Rider when he is killed in the car, linking man and machine as the new Ghost Rider.

Now, we’re very surprised to see Ghost Rider, whose rights were recently taken back by Marvel after Nicholas Cage tried not once but twice to take the character to the big screen. And failed miserably. Twice. The Rider has been rumoured to be set for the second phase of the Netflix MCU shows but it looks like SHIELD got to him first.

It has been confirmed that the Rider this time will indeed be Reyes. And we have the teaser above to prove it.

Nice.

Oh and we know who will play Robbie Reyes (below)…

“Season 4 will unquestionably be the series’ biggest, most ambitious story yet, and it all begins with the introduction of one of our greatest legacy characters in Ghost Rider,” Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb told Marvel.com. “When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into S.H.I.E.L.D., it’ll change everything.”

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
