SDCC 2022: WATCH: DC animated series Batwheels gets first trailer

July 23rd, 2022 by Marc Comments

The new animated series for kids from DC, Batwheels, has got it’s first trailer – although I think it’s the opening credits of the series – and it’s a weird, but cool, looking show.

The new trailer all the way from SDCC 2022 gives us a good look at the style, animation and theme song and it really looks like the Fisher Price superheroes figures I bought my son when he was young come to life. Well, animation.

But I don’t understand… the cars are alive but the humans still ride in them?! How does this work?! Never mind, it looks like the kids will love this. Adn a few adults – cough – might too.

Warner Bros Animation’s animated preschool series called “Batwheels,” will star some of the most iconic vehicles from across the DC universe, fighting crime in Gotham City alongside the usual squad of Batman, Robin, Batgirl and more.

The show’s main crime-fighting crew is led by Bam (The Batmobile), and also includes Bibi (The Batgirl Cycle), Red (The Redbird), Jett (The Batwing) and Buff (The Bat Truck). Together, the sentient super-powered vehicles must navigate the growing pains of being a newly-formed super team, as well as the growing pains that come with just being a kid.

So, it’s kind of like Cars, only set in the DC Universe? Well, the toys should be cool…

Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, said of the series: “From ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ to ‘Teen Titans Go!,’ superhero storytelling has definitely been one of our superpowers here at Warner Bros. Animation,” added Register. “We are so excited to bring that expertise over to the preschool space and take something that all kids love, cool vehicles, and give it a turbo boost with Batman!”

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
