SDCC: Sam Raimi working on Evil Dead: The Series

July 25th, 2014 by Dave Bowling Comments

Oh hell yes!

Word has just escaped from San Diego that Sam Raimi and the LEGENDARY Bruce Campbell are working on an Evil Dead TV series. During the Hall H panel at ComiCon, while discussing the adaptation of survival horror game The Last of Us, Raimi announced that he and his brother Ivan, along with Bruce Campbell, are actually writing the script for the Evil Dead series!

No word yet on how this will tie in to the original trilogy or the Fede Alvarez-directed Evil Dead movie. The 2013 remake/reimagining performed reasonably well for Sony and Columbia Pictures, earning almost $100M worldwide. The Alvarez film was said to be the third sequel – following The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness – which would tie into the original trilogy. Campbell even had a brief post-credits scene as Ash.

Rest assured, the idea of a TV series and more movies gets me more than a little worked up. Groovy!

The death ray is currently in the works and one day you shall all bow to him, his giant space station and fleet of funky orange space shuttles...
