The Game of Thrones cast have always been remarkably tight-lipped when it’s come to major plot points about the show but, on Sunday night at the Oscars, actress Sophie Turner dropped a pretty huge season 6 spoiler.
Speaking to E!‘s Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet (video below), the 20-year-old Sansa Stark actress revealed her character will make it through the entirety of the upcoming season alive.
Discussing her nerves when she reads the show’s scripts, she said: “Flicking through, I’m like ‘death, death, death… Okay, I’m good for this season.’”
Game of Thrones has become known for mercilessly killing off major characters, often in the most brutal and shocking manner, so this news is sure to impact the tension in some of Sansa’s upcoming scenes.
Turner also teased an exciting role for her character in the upcoming season, revealing how she really comes into her own after five seasons of repeated tragedy and misery.
“This season is a really, really big one for Sansa. It’s probably her best season yet.
“It’s her really coming into her own. [This season], she really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it.”
Turner is making her feature film debut in X-Men: Apocalypse starring as a young version of Jean Grey, the character originally played by Famke Janssen; it will be released on 19 May. Game of Thrones season six begins on 24 April.
