It has to be said we aren’t surprised at all but Star Wars: Rebels has been renewed for Season 3, which makes us very happy.

With everyone pacing the floors over The Force Awakens, everything Star Wars is being devoured by the fans – luckily it’s all pretty good, and none is better than Rebels.

And now Lucasfilm and Disney XD are bringing the show back in 2016. Created by Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Carrie Beck, the animated series takes place during the time period between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope, as a fierce rebel resistance begins to form.

Lucasfilm SVP of Development Kiri Hart had this to say about the renewal: “We’re very proud of our incredibly creative Rebels team. The show continues to tell fun, heartfelt, exciting newStar Wars stories week after week, and it’s beloved by fans of all ages. Season Three will see our rebel heroes face new obstacles and find new allies in their fight against the Empire.”

It looks like the story of the Rebellion will be a long on… which sits just fine with us.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
