Stephen Amell would like to play who in the DC Cinematic Universe?!

So, Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell seems to hold a deep, dark DC Secret… he secretly longs to be a bad guy!

Asked recently (the video is below) if there was a particular character from DC Comics he would like to play on the big screen (Arrow is small screen only and always will be), we would have expected him to say Batman or even stick with Green Arrow, but no… “I’ll play The Riddler, okay? It’s a villain, but I like The Riddler.”

Wait, what?

We actually like the idea of him as Edward Nigma in a strange way. And it seems that it’s not the first time he’s said it; while taking part in a panel at Nerd HQ at SDCC in 2014, Amell was asked what supervillain he would like to play: “The Riddler,” he replied, “I think I actually said that to Geoff Johns at like 2 o’clock in the morning Saturday. ‘Hey, Geoff, I want to play the Riddler.’ That actually happened.

“I mean that’s an awesome villain, and it hasn’t been in the modern…well, I guess modern, post-turn-of-the-century versions of Batman. So that would be cool.”

We know it’ll never happen, in fact it’s unlikely we’ll ever see Amell in any form in the DC Cinematic Universe, but this still tickles us.

What say you guys?

Arrow returns for Season 5 in October.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
