We reported earlier that Stranger Things Season 2 has started filming with the return of one of our favourite characters of the year (here) ad now we have news of some great additions to what was essentially the greatest 80s throwback of, well, ever…

Yes, the show created by Ross and Matt Duffer, has cast three intriguing actors.

First up, Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen will play Roman, “an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab…” Hmmmmm… sounds to us like there could be an regional Eleven out there in Hawkins.

Next up, Goonies and Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin will play Bob Newby,  “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.”

And finally Aliens and My Two Dads star Paul Reiser is Dr Owens, “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.”

Could Reiser be in to pick up where Matthew Modine’s Dr Brenner left off?

However they tie in, we can’t wait to get the bus back to Hawkins in 2017…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
