Archie is one of the longest running characters in the world of comics. He has existed since 1941 and has managed to maintain a steady reader base ever since. As such, it is surprising that it has taken so long for him to appear in another medium.

However, in recent months we have seen attempts to bring Archie to television, in the form of the series, Riverdale. The series is being produced by Greg Berlanti (The Flash and Arrow) and is hoping to make it to television by the end of the year.

Now it was announced that the lead role of Archie Andrews has been cast. The role has gone to 18-year-old KJ Apa. According to a recent article, “Archie is an intense, conflicted teen, who’s gotten pumped over the summer working on his father’s construction lot and is thus the object of attraction for several of his female friends at Riverdale High”.

Honestly I don’t know entirely what to make of this, I have never been the world’s biggest Archie fan, and so I don’t know how true this is to the character’s roots. Hopefully though, the series will be able to deliver for long time fans of the character.
