The CW acquires rights to DC Universe’s Swamp Thing… but don’t get too excited

So, we all know that The CW and DC Universe have a relationship with the two crossing over in the recent Crisis on DC Universe and also because they’re essentially sharing the upcoming Star Girl series but now, something interesting has happened.

Due to that damned virus many networks are turning to streamers to fill slots left vacant and now The CW has grabbed a cool DC property from the DC Universe streaming service in the shape of Swamp Thing, the awesome but cancelled before its time horror series.

The show follows Dr Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana. However, when a mysterious creature emerges from the murky marsh, she finds herself facing the nightmares of a supernatural world where no one is safe. The series also stars Virginia Madsen, Andy Bean, Henderson Wade, Derek Mears, Maria Sten and Jeryl Prescott.

Now, does this mean anything? Like, will we see The CW pick up the series for a proper send-off? Well, certainly at the minute it looks unlikely but The CW saved Supergirl and in a way it saved Constantine by bringing Matt Reeves into the Legends of Tomorrow series, so you never quite know.

Personally, I hate what has become of John Constantine in The CW shows as he has lost the edge the character needs but, that said, maybe if The CW could find a way to bring Swamp Thing and Constantine together in The Arrowverse, well, it could be pretty cool.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts and if you liked Swamped Thing or, if you’ve not seen it, will you watch on The CW? Let me know, gang…
