The CW bringing us a Nancy Drew series

September 8th, 2018 by Marc Comments

The CW sets its sights on another cracking bit of TV as it looks like they are updating the Nancy Drew stories.

Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire and CBS TV Studios will be developing the series based on the classic novels.

Written by Noga Landau (The Magicians), the untitled project is centered on 18-year-old Nancy Drew in the summer after her high school graduation. Nancy thought she’d be leaving her hometown for college, but when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation — and along the way, she uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined.

CBS has previously almost brought Nancy into the modern day twice in recent years with Drew at CBS in 2015-16 and Nancy Drew at NBC last year however both versions focused on a fully grown Nancy and acted as a sequel to the book.

However, The CW are aiming to have Nancy as a teen, which is how she was portrayed in the books originally.

We’d imagine Nancy Drew in this version will be set in the modern world ala the Sabrina and Riverdale shows, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more…
