Hey Flash fans, meet Wally West!

Divergent actor Keiynan Lonsdale has signed up as Wally West AKA Kid Flash.

“Keiynan Lonsdale will be joining ‘The Flash’ this winter in the role of Wally West, an iconic character from The Flash Universe who became the speedster known as Kid Flash,” says the official description.

“Just like when we met [series lead] Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement.

“We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”

In the comics, during Crisis on Infinity Earths, Barry Allen was killed and Wally became Flash for a considerable amount of time (he was Flash when I started reading the books)

According to CBR, “When the character returned in 2014 in DC Comics’ reconfigured, post-“Flashpoint” continuity, Wally West was now biracial — half-white, half-Black. The casting of Lonsdale shows that the producers of “The Flash” are using that interpretation of Wally West for the TV series, which is consistent with the show’s casting thus far, as Iris West and her father Joe West are both played by African-American actors (Candice Patton and Jesse L. Martin).”

The thing we are curious about is that in the comics Iris is Wally’s Aunt (most of the time) so we’re wondering if, in the series, that will be done away with or perhaps, you know, timey-wimey…

Oh, that means there’ll technically be three Flashes in the new series as we know Jay Garrick is there too.

How’s that for awesome?

The Flash returns on Oct 6th.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
