So, it’s fair to say that Sherlock is a success for the BBC.
The reimagining of the classic novels by Arthur Conan Doyle have been (reasonably) well updated to the modern age with Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman and Watson.
And now the guys behind it, Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, are writing a new series based on Bram Stoker’s classic Dracula.
Both writers are currently working on their own projects but they have already engaged with the BBC and the series is now on the ‘to do’ list. Moffatt is the current showrunner on Doctor Who but is stepping down at the end of the current series at Christmas.
The king vampire’s story will, like Sherlock, be told with a miniseries run of feature-length episodes.
While nothing is known beyond the involvement of Moffatt and Gatiss, it’s a safe bet that the series may see Dracula, like Sherlock, adapting to the modern world.
More when we get it…
And yes, we’re also thinking how awesome a crossover would be.
