There’s an Exorcist TV Series on the way…

It seems that ever since Hannibal and Fargo hit upon a winning formula, the television networks have been looking for any film franchise that they can adapt into a series.

With this in mind, Fox announced that they are looking to adapt The Exorcist into a TV series. There is absolutely nothing known about the premise of the show, other than the fact that it is about an exorcism, I presume.

Honestly, while my first paragraph may have come across as derisive, I actually can understand why networks would look to adapt some of these premises for shows. However, I cannot see what they hope to get out of The Exorcist. If they were to announce a mini-series, I could maybe understand it, but the premise doesn’t seem to have legs for multiple seasons.

On top of all of this, Cinemax is launching its own exorcism based TV show, Outcast, which is based on a comic by Robert Kirkman. The difference is, that this series does seem to have the potential for multiple seasons.

I won’t write this series completely off yet, for all we know this may only be The Exorcist in name only, and what they intend to do is very different, and built for television. However, for the moment, I can’t say I am overly confident.
