TV REVIEWS: FTN Reviews Legends Of Tomorrow Season 4 Episode 10: The Getaway

April 9th, 2019 by Todd Black Comments

I’ve always loved how Legends of Tomorrow can build something compelling out of nothing. And “The Getaway” was just that. When a simple mission to stop Richard Nixon from telling the truth (oh the irony) goes sideways as Hank tries to shut down the Legends, things get…truthy.

Alright, bad bits first, I do think the “truth bug” was a little on the nose. But as Sara said in the episode, “We lost our subtlety in Mexico.”

With the truth out, and most of the team on the run, it was up to the Legends to figure things out while also trying to stay safe. There were several interesting twists in this episode, including Zari “joining” the Time Beraeu so that she could help Nate get more info on what Hank was doing. And both of them being double agents so that they could save the Legends…until Hank figured it out.

Ironically, the bonding moments between Hank and Nate were some of the best of the episode. They really did love each other, it’s just they couldn’t figure out how to say it to one another.

Speaking of which, Sara being overwhelmed with the loss of Ava and her failing to keep it all together was a very nice thing. Because Sara is often times the only one keeping things tight, but not here, and she understood that sometimes it’s ok to not be ok.

Which leads us to Mona, where we got confirmation that Kolani scratching her was the reason she now has her transformation abilities. Whether she can be “cured” is up for debate though, but she makes a good addition to the team.

Unlike Gary, though he did make up for it today by bringing Nora Darhk into the fold, and was able to sense the presence of Neron, and I have a feeling that this will be a big thing going forward.

I’d be remiss without mentioning all the hilarious jokes and nudges to pop culture in this episode. Like Rory being a fan of indie films, Sara and Ray pulling a Home Alone, “We forgot Charlie!”, Zari being the smooth-talking DJ on the radio giving out clues like The Warriors.

“The Getaway” was another great episode, and with the shocking death of Hank, things are only going to get more crazy.
