WATCH: Bates Motel TV series gets new teasers

February 6th, 2013 by Marc 1 Comment

Ok, as much as I love Hichcock’s original masterpiece Psycho, I’m really not convinced this needs telling…

Isn’t the scariest monster always the one that just exists without any explanation of how or why? Well it looks like Norman Bates is the latest to be deconstructed in the upcoming series Bates Motel which will tell the story of young Norman and how he becomes the killer we know so well.

It will star Freddie Highmore of Neverland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fame as Norman and Vera Farmiga as his controlling mother Norma and debuts on A&E on March 23… we’ll reserve judgment for now, what about you guys?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….

I’m right there with you about Psycho not really needing a prequel explanation, but I’m still rather interested to see the direction they decided to go with this show. I watched all of those teasers the other day in my office at DISH and I think the show looks promising. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, so until then I’ll have to remember to set a recording timer for this before March 23rd. I did recently upgrade to a DISH Hopper, so luckily for me I have plenty of storage space to record this entire series. I have a bunch of other timers for other shows as well, but with the 2,000 hours of entertainment I can store I have no worries about every reaching my recording limit. :)
