It’s so close, we can almost taste it. Game of Thrones season 6 is – after a year-long wait of incredible anguish – finally upon us. It’s five days away. Yes, only five. In the usual manner of ramping up the marketing campaign, HBO has dropped another action-packed trailer to whet the appetite tantalisingly.

Billed as an ‘Event Promo,’ the 30-second clip contains snippets of new footage, but is edited and packaged in such a way as to bombard us with more action and thrills. Whereas the previous two, longer trailers had a degree of pacing and restraint – to begin with anyway – this latest teaser packs one hell of a punch from word go, write Squareeyed.

It opens with an ominous voiceover from Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion Lannister, saying: “Whoever you are, wherever you go, someone wants to murder you.”

Just as he finishes, we’re hit with another exciting shot of the Tower of Joy flashback, with a dual-wielding Targaryen knight ripping into combat. Then, we get another glimpse at the Night’s King. Then, there’s a quick-cut sequence of all things battle and dragons before ending with Tyrion asking “are you afraid?”
