The new Superman animated series that was originally set for HBO Max is now moving to Adult Swim later this year, making us wonder if it will perhaps be a bit darker than previously thought.

The series, My Adventures With Superman, stars The Boys and Scream V’s Jack Quaid as a much younger Superman, finding his feet as a superhero and – a human – in Metropolis.

Originally we had reported that the series would be aimed at younger audiences but now that it’s on Adult Swim, we’re wondering if this is still the cast as Adult Swim are more attuned to things like Rick & Morty than Batman: The Animated Series.

The series is being produced by Warner Bros. Animation and based on characters from DC Comics as it follows Clark Kent, Lois Lane (Alice Lee), and their best friend Jimmy Olsen early in their careers.

HBO Max give new Superman animated series a straight-to-series order

All are twenty-somethings that begin to discover who they are and everything they can accomplish together as an investigative reporting team at the Daily Planet.

Clark builds his secret Superman identity and embraces his role as the hero of Metropolis. Lois, now growing into a star investigative journalist, takes aspiring photographer Jimmy under her wing.

At the same time Clark and Lois are falling in love, sharing adventures, taking down bad guys, stumbling over secrets, and discovering what it means to be Superman and Lois Lane.

Sam Register serves as executive producer. Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clogher are on board as co-executive producers and Josie Campbell as co-producer.

The series arrives on Adult Swim later this year.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars.
