It’s here! Our first, admittedly brief, look at the DCU’s Lanterns series!

Originally set to release early next year, the series is now set to debut on HBO next summer – “It’s late summer. But there’s a reason for it,” says DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran.

This means the highly anticipated series, which stars Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart – Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner will also appear – and it is being described as being “as much of a buddy cop show as a superhero show,” by showrunner Chris Mundy, will hit screens around the same time Supergirl gets released on the big screen.

WATCH: Look out! The Supergirl trailer is here at last!

The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Anyway, HBO put out a sizzle reel earlier today featuring a brief, fun look at the new show, which you can watch below.

The DCU rolls on!

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.

Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
