Get ready for the new daily show

WATCH: Poster and trailer arrive for The Santa Clauses

Well, I never thought we’d see the day but Tim Allen is back as Santa Claus!

Yup, Disney+ have resurrected Allen’s franchise in which he plays Scott Calvin, a man who accidentally killed Santa and had to become the man in red himself due to the ‘Santa Clause’. Geddit?

Well, three movies later (1994-2006) and Disney+ have brought the whole crew back for a new festive series, debuting on November 16th with a two-episode series premiere.

In the series, Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realising that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the North Pole.

Calling it now, David Kromholtz’s Bernard will end up being Santa…

As well as the original cast, the new series introduces Simon Choski played by Kal Penn, and his daughter, Grace, played by Rupali Redd. Also, Noel played by Devin Bright), Betty the elf played by Matilda Lawler and La Befana the Christmas Witch played by Laura San Giacomo.

While I’m not the biggest fan of the franchise as a whole – the first movie is solid, the sequels are pretty bad – it’s been a big hit at my house around the Christmas period, so I’d say this will be given a shot too.

Ho, ho, ho!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
