The trailer for Netflix’s Resident Evil series is here and, well, it’s definitely got zombies in it.

Starring the great Lance Reddick as a new member of the Wesker family who brings the franchise’s story into the future.

But, while some raised their eyebrows at Wesker being played by Reddick, who is superb in everything he does, it seems this is not the Wesker we know from the

“If you know the games, Wesker is dead,” showrunner Andrew Dabb says, “he got blown up by a rocket launcher in a volcano. The games are our backstory.

“So, everything in the games exists in this world. So, how is Wesker alive now? I will say stay tuned and the answer is not like, ‘He’s immune to lava.’

“I don’t want to give too much away, but I will say the explanation for why Wesker is the way that he is and how he is still alive go hand in hand.”

Whatever this Wesker is at, we’re told it will explain everything and he may not be the best dad on the planet to his young daughters as he has sinister reasons for having kids.

We’ll give it a chance for sure but it doesn’t scream Resident Evil to us here at FTN… but we’re not ruling it out yet.

Thoughts?

In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.

Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than fifteen million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past – about her sister, her father and herself – continue to haunt her.

Nothing eventful ever happens in the peaceful New Raccoon City. The legendary franchise Resident Evil brings its battle for survival to Netflix on July 14th.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
