If there was one movie in the 1990s that was crying out for a sequel, it was True Lies.
The James Cameron movie starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as a husband who pretend to sell insurance buy is actually a top-secret agent and when his family – Jamie Lee Curtis and a very young Eliza Dusku – get involved by accident, hijinks ensue.
Honestly, it’s a fun, funny and over the top in all the right ways actions movie and seemed prime for sequels which just never appeared.
But now it seems that Cameron is working on producing a TV series which will have Charlie’s Angels’ McG directing.
“Well right now my new thing for television is I’m doing True Lies at Disney+,” McG revealed yesterday.
“Which is exciting. I’m writing that one, which is very exciting, because I’m so passionate about that story where you think you know your partner but you don’t.”
The movie had been eyed as potential TV series a while ago by Fox, so it looks like Disney have decided to pick it up and run with it.
But, will the main man, Arnold Schwarzenegger be involved?
“There’s talk of that. It’s largely rebooted but there may be a spot there, we’ll see,” McG added.
Chances are we’ll have a wait for this one but as a big fan of the original, I’m both excited and terrified in equal amounts.
Let me know your thoughts, guys…
