If there’s one thing we Doctor Who fans love, it’s a good multi-Doctor storyline.
It’s a staple of Doctor Who device, bring together several actors who have portrayed the character and bring them together to face a massive threat… it last happened in the show’s 50th Anniversary special, Day of the Doctor when Matt Smith and David Tennant met John Hurt’s War Doctor to fight the Zygons and end the Time War – I’d argue it happened in too in Peter Capaldi’s final episode, Twice Upon A Time wherein his Doctor met the first Doctor, played by David Bradly standing in for William Hartnell, who died many years ago.
It’s an event that, as a fan, we always get excited for and now, with the show’s 60th Anniversary next year and current Doctor Jodi Whittaker standing down (here) , it’s something many of us are expecting/hoping will happen very, very soon.

In a new interview, Matt Smith, David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker discussed the possibility of coming together for a new crossover event and all three of them seem very keen, indeed.
“I mean, you’d better ask the Doctor. I don’t know. Jodie?” quips Smith, to which Whittaker replies sarcastically: “You’re not invited. I mean, when we all get back on set, I’m inviting everyone!”
At this point Tennant chips in: “Listen, I had such a great time when I went back to play the Doctor again when Matt was there. It could have been awful! But he was so welcoming and we just had a laugh. And, obviously, I know how difficult Jodie is to work with already [they worked together in Broadchurch], so that would be challenging.”
He then adds: “It’s not really up to us to decide. But we all like hanging out together, so it would be nice to do that.”
Hmmmmmmmmm…
Clearly the three stars are keen to meet in the show at some stage so it has us wondering if perhaps this is a fun bit of foreshadowing? Honestly, seeing Smith and Tennant together again would be a treat and, as much as I hate the Whittaker series, I do like her and don’t believe the show’s problems are her fault so, under the right showrunner, she’d be a welcome return… now, get Christopher Eccleston, Peter Capaldi, Paul McGann and David Bradley involved again and we have a real party on our hands.
What? A guy can dream, can’t he?
Anyway, do you think we’ll see them all together again? Let me know what your ideal Doctor team-up is…
